The beautiful scenery of Ulster County and the water flowing gracefully down Mombaccus Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Cherrytown to Boyce Road section of Mombaccus Creek is 6 miles long and is a class I-III(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are no other sections to paddle along Mombaccus Creek than the Cherrytown to Boyce Road section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming
from far and near. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. Lodging is available
near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: During the summertime, highs generally are in the 70's at Mombaccus Creek. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Mombaccus Creek. Good hiking is available along the Kanape Jeep Trail. Mombaccus Creek is a relatively wet place frequently with a large amount of rainfall; through November this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
