New York whitewater, Mombaccus Creek Ulster county, Cherrytown to Boyce Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-III(V+)     6 miles   The Cherrytown to Boyce Road section of Mombaccus Creek in New York is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III(V+) section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Kingston. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Cherrytown to Boyce Road     section is the only paddling section along Mombaccus Creek. The wonderful Ulster County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The campgrounds here at Mombaccus Creek are pretty good. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly       about the general area: The Vernooy Falls Trail offers hiking at its best, and the good folks of Kerhonkson like to hang out nearby. There's good hiking along the Kanape Jeep Trail; Minnewaska State Park Preserve is   a good place to check out on a pretty day. This is a really good river. Summertime at Mombaccus Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Mombaccus Creek dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. Mombaccus Creek is a quite wet place generally with a lot of rain.
