This section of Moodna Creek in Orange County is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside New York you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable     for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are some good hotels near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The campgrounds here at Moodna Creek are pretty good. This is the only paddling stretch along Moodna Creek. Briefly about the general area: Moodna Creek is right by the Stillwell Lake Trail. For the duration of the long summer days at Moodna Creek highs are usually in the 70's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while Moodna Creek nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's.
