The put-in location is a short drive from Utica-Rome, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Moose River is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.     There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. When you're paddling down a Adirondack Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. The wonderful New York scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the summer at Moose River temperatures are mostly in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. For the   period of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Moose River. All the water falling down from the sky makes Moose River a wet location; August is the month that gets the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
