The natural beauty of Hamilton County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section of Moose River - South Branch in New York is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Silver Run to Bridge at Plains section is one of them. On this section you do get some distance,
it's good length for a morning trip. The beautiful Adirondack Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the
river where you can camp. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
