The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This stretch of Moose River - South Branch in Hamilton County is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery.
