The Strauss YMCA Camp to Claryville stretch of Neversink River - East Branch in Sullivan/ Ulster County is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better     not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Strauss YMCA Camp to Claryville section is just one of many. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The scenic beauty of New York and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The wild scenery of the Catskill Mountains is great.
