This section of Neversink River - East Branch is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The beauty of the Catskill Mountains is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots     of people. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Sullivan/ Ulster County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Strauss YMCA Camp to Claryville section is just one of them. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
