New York whitewater - Ninemile Creek, Oneida County Oneida county, Feeder Canal to Stittville section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     6 miles   The put-in is not too far from Utica-Rome, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Feeder Canal to Stittville stretch of Ninemile Creek in New York is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. The beautiful scenery of Oneida County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state     whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This is the only paddling stretch along Ninemile Creek. The campgrounds here at Ninemile Creek are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Ninemile Creek, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, regularly in the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's, and overnight lows at Ninemile Creek through the winter   mostly fall into the 0's. A large amount of rain falls at Ninemile Creek; most of the rain falls throughout November, and the driest month of the year is February. This is a popular place for folks from Utica-Rome.
