This stretch of Oswegatchie River in New York is 8 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping     in your car. The natural beauty of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The campgrounds here at Oswegatchie River are pretty good. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: Oswegatchie River gets a common amount of rain; the month   with most of the rain is August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. High temperatures at Oswegatchie River through the days of summer are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Oswegatchie River dip into the 0's.
