If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The natural beauty of St. Lawrence County and the cool fresh water beats anything. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. For     all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a short drive from Ogdensburg-Massena, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is wonderful. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of precipitation falls at Oswegatchie River - East Branch; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least   amount of precipitation. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Post Henderson Trail.
