The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The starting point is not too far from Ogdensburg-Massena, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Long Pond Road to Bryants Bridge section of Oswegatchie River - Middle Branch is 22 miles long and is according     to American Whitewater a class II-V+ section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
