The put-in is not too far from Auburn, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The natural beauty of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are
in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The From Lock 7 Dam stretch is the only paddling stretch along Oswego River. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby.
Briefly about the general area: At Oswego River through the summertime highs are in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Oswego River tend to be in the 10's. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Oswego River; the month with most of the rain is November; February is the month with the least moisture.
