The beautiful scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Utica-Rome it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of     the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is the only paddling stretch along Otter Creek. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
