  The starting location is a short drive from Auburn, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Owasco River in Cayuga County is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. No shortage
    of good hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is the only paddling section along Owasco River. The beautiful scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This is a pretty short section
so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.

Briefly about the general area:
Owasco River is a good site of common rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. You'll meet a lot of people from Auburn here.
High temperatures at Owasco River through the warm days of summer are in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Owasco River.
