The nature scenery of Ulster County and the water flowing gracefully down Peters Kill River beats anything. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This is the only paddling section along Peters Kill River. This stretch of Peters Kill River in Ulster County is 5.5 miles long and is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough
to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The campgrounds here at Peters Kill River are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. If you're coming from Kingston
it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
