The beautiful scenery of Ulster County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Peters Kill River in New York is 5.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V+ section of whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The starting point is not
too far from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. There's camping available near Peters Kill River. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be
more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Peters Kill River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Minnewaska to Rondout Creek section is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
