This section of Platte Kill River is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. When you're paddling down a Catskill Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room     before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. The DAvenue Taylor's Farm stretch is the only paddling stretch along Platte Kill River. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Platte Kill River a wet spot; May is when you get the most rain here; February meanwhile is the driest month. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Catskill   Mountains. Platte Kill River is near Weaver Hollow which is certainly worth a visit, and a tour to Canada Falls will fill your spirit with wonderful feelings. All through the summer months highs here at Platte Kill River get into the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Platte Kill River dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
