The Platte Clove Road to West Saugerties stretch of Plattekill Creek in Greene / Ulster County is 2 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is     the only paddling stretch along Plattekill Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The put-in location is a short drive from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Catskill Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Plattekill Creek through the summertime are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime   are mostly in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Plattekill Creek temperatures dip to the 0's. The yearly precipitation here at Plattekill Creek is about average; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is February.
