This stretch of Putnam Creek in New York is 5.5 miles long and is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. Pond to Factoryville section is the only paddling section along Putnam Creek. The starting point is not too far from Glens Falls, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay
the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wonderful Essex County scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery.

is down it plunges down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Putnam Creek are in the 0's.
