Route 210 to Ramapo section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 7.5 miles
This section of Ramapo River is 7.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are no other sections to paddle along Ramapo River
than the Route 210 to Ramapo section. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. The campgrounds here at Ramapo River
are pretty good. If you're coming from New York-Newark-Edison it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Pine Meadow Trail is always a magnificent adventure, and wonderful skiing awaits you at Sterling Forest. All the water falling down from the sky makes Ramapo River a wet spot; May is when you get the most rain here while February is ordinarily the driest month. Old Sebago Beach is close to Ramapo River and is a beautiful beach
to take a look at, and Parker Cabin Hollow is another delightful place to stop by nearby. This river is so wonderful. You must positively stop by wonderful New Sebago Beach if you're here at Ramapo River, and nearby you find the Kakiat Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. At
Ramapo River during the summertime highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Ramapo River.
