The Route 210 to Ramapo stretch of Ramapo River in Orange/ Rockland County is 7.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There are no other sections to paddle
along Ramapo River than the Route 210 to Ramapo section. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. No need to look hard for hotels,
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: This is a great river. If you fancy a little side tour, try Parker Cabin Hollow; you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Kakiat Trail. At Ramapo River through the warm months highs are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows throughout the winter for Ramapo River tend
to be in the 10's. If you want to hit the beach, Old Sebago Beach is in close proximity; the snow is brilliant at Sterling Forest. New Sebago Beach is in the vicinity of Ramapo River if you're in a beach type of mood, and going for a hike along the Pine Meadow Trail will let
you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Ramapo River is a wet place that gets lots of rain; May is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
