The Piercefield to Parmenter Site stretch of Raquette River is 17.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Malone, there's     a road map further down the page with more info on that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. The Piercefield to Parmenter Site section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. There's camping available near Raquette River. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of rainfall falls at Raquette River; August is the wettest   month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Through the days of summer, highs frequently are in the 70's at Raquette River, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Raquette River.
