  The Last 2 miles into Stoney Creek section of Roaring Branch is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Glens Falls, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and
    kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're
gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The Last  
2 miles into Stoney Creek stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great.

Briefly about the general area:
If the weather is glorious here at Roaring Branch, you can go for a hike along the Oregon Trail. Very picturesque scenery and perfect skiing is what you get at Hickory Ski Center. Roaring Branch is not far at all from Stony Creek. An average amount of rainfall falls at Roaring Branch. The wettest month of the year is ordinarily August, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
