Ancram to Elizaville section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-III 14 miles
Hey, for anyone interested in kyaking or Canoeing down the Ro-Jan Kill beware: There are many downed trees, which in an instant could pin you down and end your life. No one maintains this water way, and in many sections you will be forced by naturally occurring dams to get out of your canoe, or kyak and walk you and your vessel down stream through thickets of nettle. Personally I completed a trip down this beautiful stream unaware of the many deadly stimuli. So if in the near future you plan to get away from everything, just take note to the above. Says

The beautiful scenery of New York and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Ancram to Elizaville stretch of Roeliff Jansen Kill River in New York is 14 miles long and is
a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hudson. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
