I kayaked this stretch the day after a big rainstorm in a recreational kayak and it was considerably more difficult than the review makes it out to be. Several downed trees and a huge beaver dam were the worst obstacles. Bingham Mills to Dales Bridge has some dangerous spots. Dales Bridge to the Hudson River is considerably tamer but only about a 40 minute trip. I kayaked it in early June 2006. Says Thomas

rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Bingham
Mills to Route 9G section is one of them. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The Bingham Mills to Route 9G stretch of Roeliff Jansen Kill River in New York is 7 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The put-in is not too far from Hudson.
