The natural beauty of New York and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping     bag too. This section of Sacandaga River in Hamilton County is 13 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. The starting point is not too far from Gloversville, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: The yearly rainfall here at Sacandaga River is about average; August is the month that gets the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. All through the warm days of summer highs   here at Sacandaga River reach the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Sacandaga River.
