If you're coming from Glens Falls it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Stewarts Bridge Reservoir to Hudson River stretch of Sacandaga River in New York is 3.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty short section so
no need to bring snacks. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
The nature scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.

the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Sacandaga River. Sacandaga River is a wet place that gets a good deal of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is frequently September, that's the one that rains the most while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
