The Speculator to Old Route 30 Road Bridge stretch of Sacandaga River - Middle Branch in Hamilton County is 2.5 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Road Bridge stretch is just one of many. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. No matter if you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Gloversville, as you can see on the road map further down.
