The put-in location is a short drive from Gloversville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Hamilton County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the
river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind
that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. This section of Sacandaga River - Middle Branch in New York is 2.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section.

summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Sacandaga River - Middle Branch. This is such a great river. A short tour to The Rifts is always worthwhile.
