The put-in is not too far from Gloversville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Sacandaga River - Middle Branch in Hamilton County is 6.8 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid
length, it's good length for a morning trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Hamilton County and the sparkling
