New York whitewater, Salmon River

Oswego Lewis county, Salmon River Dam to Bennett Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

The scenic beauty of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Syracuse, as you can see on the road map further down.
This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Whether you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.
