The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Malone, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section of Salmon River in Franklin County is 0.5 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. You can pitch a tent or park your
RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is very short so you'd better
be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful scenery of New York and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places.
