The wonderful Franklin County scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The Mt. View Lake to Hatch Brook stretch of Salmon River in New York is 3.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Mt. View Lake to Hatch Brook section is one of them. You
might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section is quite short so no need to bring snacks. When you're paddling down a Adirondack Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. High Falls is always fun to check out.
