The put-in location is a short drive from Plattsburgh, as you can see on the road map further down. The Union Falls to Silver Lake Road stretch of Saranac River in New York is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just
hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nature scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come
here and paddle. The Union Falls to Silver Lake Road section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river.

August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. So many amusing things to do here in the Adirondack Mountains, too nice to be true. Near Saranac River you stumble on the Silver Lake Mountain Trail which is a good hiking trail, and going
for a hike on the Schwartz Trail is always a nice adventure. For the period of the long summer days, highs frequently are in the 70's at Saranac River while night lows are frequently in the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Saranac River temperatures dip to the 0's.
