The Silver Lake Road to Redford section of Saranac River in New York is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before     you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in is not too far from Plattsburgh, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The Silver Lake Road to Redford stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of New York and the water flowing gracefully down Saranac River beats anything. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Saranac River mostly tend to be in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the   50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Saranac River. Saranac River mostly gets much rain; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most, and February meanwhile is the driest month. On a fine day at Saranac River you can take a hike along the Silver Lake Mountain Trail.
