The put-in is not too far from Plattsburgh, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this     river system, there are a few others too. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The beautiful scenery of Clinton County and the water flowing gracefully down Saranac River make the trip here worthwhile. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Saranac River comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings   highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Saranac River.
