CLASS II-III     12.5 miles
  The starting location is a short drive from Plattsburgh, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. This stretch of Saranac River in Clinton County is 12.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. This stretch is long enough
    for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There
are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Foot of Kent Falls to Lake Champlain stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. The  
nature scenery of New York and the water flowing gracefully down Saranac River have people coming here.

Briefly about the general area:
Cumberland Bay State Park is a good location; Saranac River is a site with many visitors from Morrisonville. All year is a good time in the Adirondack Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. Macomb Reservation State Park is a good place to stop at. An average amount of rain falls at Saranac River. Through the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is February. For the period of the summer months at Saranac River highs are commonly in the 70's.
