The starting point is not too far from Kingston, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Below Reservoir
#1 to Saw Kill Road section of Saw Kill River is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Catskill Mountains is a great
experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
