This stretch of Saw Kill River is 4.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Kingston, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Ulster County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number
of good rivers. The Below Reservoir #1 to Saw Kill Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers
here are not for beginners. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The wild scenery of the Catskill Mountains is great. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
