This section of Saw Kill River in New York is 2.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. The wonderful Ulster County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. And of course, there are campgrounds
nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. When you're paddling down a Catskill Mountains river like
this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
