The West Fowler to Matoon Creek stretch of Sawyer Creek in New York is 6 miles long and has been rated as a class I-V section by American Whitewater. The wonderful New York scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Sawyer Creek doesn't have a lot     of paddling sections, the West Fowler to Matoon Creek section is the only one. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: The yearly rain here at Sawyer Creek is about average; August is when you get the most rain here, and February on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year at Sawyer   Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is slightly chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Sawyer Creek temperatures sink to the 0's.
