The natural beauty of New York and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The starting point is not too far from Glens Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the North Hudson bridge to Schroon Falls stretch is one of them.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. This stretch of Schroon River in Essex County is 5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.
