Route 95 to Route 11 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 12 miles

The put-in is not too far from Watertown-Fort Drum, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nature scenery of Jefferson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging,
so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. South Sandy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 95 to Route 11 stretch is the only one.
