  The scenic beauty of New York and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Stewart Landing to Youker Road section of Sprite Creek in Fulton County is 4.55 miles long and is a class III+(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.
    The starting location is a reasonable drive from Amsterdam, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you donít have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Sprite Creek are pretty good. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Stewart Landing to  
Youker Road section is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of people from Stratford here. Sprite Creek gets a typical amount of rainfall. The month of June is the wettest with most of the rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 80's at Sprite Creek, and the night is a tad chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. Through the winter the highs are usually in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Sprite Creek fall into the 0's.
