This section of Spruce Creek in New York is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V+ section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Salisbury to Dolgeville stretch
is one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting point is not too far from Amsterdam, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.

Briefly about the general area:
You're sure to run into some fine folks from Dolgeville here, and close by you stumble on the California Trail which is a good hiking trail. Spruce Creek gets a normal amount of annual rain. For the period of the month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February.
