The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are no other sections to paddle along Spruce Creek than the Salisbury to Dolgeville section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Amsterdam, please print out a copy of     the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Herkimer County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.
