The put-in is not too far from Kingston, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Greene/ Ulster County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Catskill Mountains is a great experience. This section of Stony Clove Creek is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV
section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. There are no other sections to paddle along Stony Clove Creek than the Confluence of Warner Creek and Siver Creek to Esopus River section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

you discover the Willow Trail which is a good hiking trail. Ox Clove is a great place to explore in the vicinity of Stony Clove Creek, and there is a pleasant hiking trail nearby called the Phoenicia Trail. During the warm months at Stony Clove Creek highs are commonly in the
70's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Stony Clove Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Stony Clove Creek a wet location; November is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
