The Headwaters to Canaseraga Creek section of Sugar Creek in New York is 1.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. The campgrounds here at Sugar Creek are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in New York are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Sugar Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Headwaters to Canaseraga Creek stretch is the only one. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is a bit
of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.

During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Sugar Creek temperatures sink to the 10's.
