If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Headwaters to Canaseraga Creek section of Sugar Creek in Livingston County is 1.7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. This is the only paddling section along Sugar Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right
nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This stretch
is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful scenery of Livingston County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Really great skiing awaits you at Swain. The yearly rain here at Sugar Creek is about average; the wettest month of the year is commonly June, that's the one that rains the most while February is ordinarily the driest month. For the period of the
warm days of summer here at Sugar Creek, high temperatures generally get into the 80's while overnight lows are regularly in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Sugar Creek temperatures drop to the 10's.
