If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.     Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Wassaic to NY line section is the only paddling section along Ten Mile River. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Torrington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Ten Mile River, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 30's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Ten Mile River drop into the 10's.
