  The Alder Brook Road to Pottersville stretch of Trout Brook River in Warren County is 4 miles long and is a class III-IV(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. The
    nature scenery of Warren County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Alder Brook Road to Pottersville section is one
of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have  
a lot of people coming here. If you're coming from Glens Falls it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Trout Brook River without first checking out Adirondack Natural Stone Bridge, and at Trout Brook River you always meet someone from North Creek. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Adirondack Mountains. There's delightful hiking along the Spectacle Pond Trail, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Gore Mountain.
