The End of Lundy Road section of Vernooy Kill River is 7.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-V section. The starting point is not too far from Kingston, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more
challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Vernooy Kill River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the End of Lundy Road section is the only one. This section is long enough to enjoy
a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of Ulster County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.
