The starting point is not too far from Utica-Rome, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. The Ohio Gorge stretch of West Canada Creek is 1.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average,
so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting
or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
