  The scenic beauty of New York and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New York is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Not too many hotels
    nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beauty of the Adirondack Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are plenty of other sections in this
river system that can be paddled as well. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you're coming from Amsterdam it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Don't leave West Canada Creek - South Branch without first going for a hike along the California Trail. At West Canada Creek - South Branch you always meet someone from Hoffmeister.
