The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Bridge Close to Hyndsville to Route 7 section is one of them. The wonderful Schoharie     County scenery and the cool fresh water have people coming here. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of West Creek is 5 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes West Creek a wet place; during the month of June you get the most rain around here; February is when it's the driest. During the warm days of summer at West Creek highs are commonly in the 70's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's.
