The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. This is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. This     stretch of West Mill Creek in New York is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater paddling here in the Adirondack Mountains is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The South of Exit 30 off I-87 section is the only paddling section along West Mill Creek. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly       about the general area: If you're looking for a beach in close proximity to West Mill Creek, we recommend Jones Beach. West Mill Creek is right by the Dix Mountain-Elk Lake - Beckhorn Trail, and during your trip here   you'll meet some folks from North Hudson for sure. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. Take a hike on the Macomb Mountain-Elk Lake - Dix Trail. West Mill Creek is a good spot of normal rainfall. August is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. All through the warm days of summer highs here at West Mill Creek get into the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's.
