  This stretch of West Stony Creek in Fulton/ Hamilton County is 10.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Gloversville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state
    is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The natural beauty of New York and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has  
a large number of paddling rivers. When you're paddling down a Adirondack Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of folks from Mayfield here, and you can have a magnificent hiking adventure along the Hamilton Mountain Fire Tower Trail. Man, is there loads of exciting things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. High temperatures at West Stony Creek throughout the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's.
