If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This section of West Stony Creek in New York is 10.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack
your camping stuff too. The put-in location is a short drive from Gloversville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are no other
stretches to paddle along West Stony Creek than the Pinnacle to Route 30 stretch. The natural beauty of New York and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Adirondack Mountains and you get great scenery. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
