The starting location is a short drive from Gloversville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average New York whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful Adirondack Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. This section of West Stony
Creek in New York is 10.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. West Stony Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Pinnacle to Route 30 section is the only one. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful New York scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
