This section of West Stony Creek in New York is 10.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Gloversville, as you can see on the road map further down. West Stony Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Pinnacle to Route 30 section is the only one. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. You can
enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise
and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The beautiful scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The beautiful Adirondack Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
