county,
Chub Pond to Horton Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-V 10 miles
The beautiful scenery of New York and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Utica-Rome, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds
quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. This section of Woodhull Creek is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting
and kayaking spots in New York tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wild scenery of the Adirondack Mountains is great. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Chub Pond to Horton Road stretch is the only paddling stretch along Woodhull Creek.
