CLASS III-IV 1.3 miles

The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. There are no other sections to paddle along Big Hungry Creek than the Big Hungry Road to Green section. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. When you're
paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The starting point is not too far from Asheville, there's a road map further
down the page with more info on that. This is an extremely short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.
